I also won a free pattern from Old Road Primitives! I was one of the lucky ones to be up late when OLP had a quick giveaway in February.

I had a birthday on March 24, and the day totally sucked. The end.

Update on the fire: it is 97% contained, yay! There are 500 firefighters trying to put it out, the terrain makes it difficult. It doesn’t help that it was windy today. Wind was the culprit that started the fire, from a controlled burn! Three people perished and I think it was 27 structures damaged or destroyed. The Sheriff posted some pictures taken last Monday. Wow.

Our mountains are on fire, please pray! We had nasty winds yesterday, the fire burned over 4,000 acres yesterday, some homes have been destroyed, two people have died. There is a lot of livestock and homes spread out in this area. It’s scary, especially with the very little snow we got in winter. There is also a beetle that has been killing trees so there is lots of dead trees mixed in with the green ones. It’s a bit early for rain yet, but I’m praying for it, or snow. More wind is expected this evening.

Where we are, we should be okay, it’s pretty well south-east of Evergreen if you were to look at a map. I didn’t sleep well last night, worried about the fire and the people, their animals, and the responders. And some other personal information that has nothing to do with the fire that I just found out yesterday evening. sigh!

They keep updating this page, but there is an aerial photo.

I made oatmeal raisin and oatmeal craisin cookies to share with the women. I got the recipe from the PAFA blog. The cookies turned out yummy! (I replaced some of the white flour with wheat. I replaced the butter with crisco, because butter in cookies at this altitude turns them into cow patties. I also had to add in some water because the dough was too dry, but that’s another altitude problem. I also omitted the clove and just used cinnamon because I have no clove.)

I’ve been slowly working on Mittens Each Day. I can’t wait to get it done!

I also made two loaves of Grandmother Bread. Suzanne at Chickens in the Road has awesome recipes. I didn’t get a photo of my bread, but you can see what it looks like at Suzanne’s blog. (I substituted one of the cups of white flour with wheat flour.)

It was a hot day, the weather is up and down lately. Spring has sprung and the elk and deer are around more often again. They are eating up all the green that is trying to poke out of the ground. Soon it will be time for them to have babies. I love spring!

Please keep my family in your prayers! Thank you!

Today was sunny and warm, for the most part, till the breeze got chilly in late afternoon. I got to open some windows, that was awesome. Spring is almost here.

I am excited about the time change this weekend. I am all for days where it doesn’t turn to dusk at 4pm (only half an hour after the kids get home from school!) during the non DST days. However, I also don’t care for the days when it doesn’t get dark till 9pm. I think it should get dark at 8pm, when the kids go to bed. Then they can’t complain that it’s still light outside when it’s their bedtime. I wish we could come up with a better strategy for balancing the daylight hours. Switching it around twice a year is lame. IMO.

My family needs your prayers, again. I can’t blog about it yet, but to us it’s pretty big as it forces us to change a lot. It’s not good. Today I felt the JOY that God is in control and He loves us, which is better than what I have felt the last two days. (It’s not sickness, don’t want to worry anyone.)

p.s. The blog header is from a photo I took at White Fence Farm, a restaurant our friends treated us to for my birthday last year.

Is it spring yet? The last two days have been warmer with sunshine. The three feet of snow from the last storm is melting away, slowly.

I am eager to start a wonderful winter pattern called Mittens Each Day. It was released last month, go take a peek! I just love it. I have the fabric cut out and waiting, but don’t have all the thread for it yet. I will start on it and hope I can get the other thread sometime soon. Getting the pattern last month was a very special treat for me.

Today I did some housework that I got behind on when I wasn’t feeling well with tooth pain. I even crafted. *gasp* yes really. I haven’t crafted in quite some time. I’m still working on bday and Christmas gifts for a certain friend who always gets my gifts late. *ahem* LOL. Now that I am not on pills 24/7 for pain, I keep getting headaches. I can’t wait for myself to get back to normal.

Happy V-day

To the 56 people who follow this blog with Google Friend Connect (GFC), please be aware that GFC is ending for non-Blogger blogs, like me, who are self hosted and use wordpress.

If you don’t already know, Google is Blogger is GFC. I set up a Linky Followers on my Subscribe page for anyone who wants to use it. I follow all blogs via Google Reader, so I’m not concerned with this GFC stuff. There are many ways to “follow” a blog.

In personal news, I went to the dentist this morning. My third visit. God has really blessed us with this dentist. We still don’t have all the money to pay for my two root canals, but we’re getting them done anyway. He’s putting his trust in us, and after visiting many dentists, this is a miracle for us. I have been in so much pain. I can’t talk, I can’t sleep, I can’t lay down. It’s been difficult being able to bless my family with even the simple chores like laundry and dishes, and that makes me feel bad. I constantly have to be on drugs to get through the day. It’s been awful. I think I have a high tolerance for the meds because they either don’t last long, or not at all. I can’t wait for this ride to be over!!

Not a very fun post, but I’m not very fun right now. lol. I do have some pics to share, we had a big snow storm, and we had around 50 elk who came to visit (it’s been a while since they’ve come by) so I took some pics of course.

Thanks for reading, if you made it this far!
I haven’t gotten a picture yet, so I borrowed this one from her blog. She sent some red buttons, ribbon, and cording. Can’t wait to play with these! Thank you so much Loretta!

And thank you to Kendra for the sweet spring card! It so much brightened my day! It has seed paper so I can plant it and grow some pretty flowers.

I haven’t taken any pictures lately or doing much of anything at all. I haven’t been feeling well, have a hurt tooth. Can’t sleep and hubby took two days off work to help me with the kids, and Monday I finally got to see the dentist. He did a temp thing to my tooth to supposedly stop the pain. It turns out it is a root canal. Insurance waiting period is up in May, so I have to wait. I keep praying this temp thing will give me some relief. It’s amazing how one little thing like a tooth can cause so much awfulness.

Over the weekend our family watched Mr Popper’s Penguins. I wasn’t too sure about this one, the reviews weren’t that great that I read, but I’m so glad I ignored them. We all enjoyed it! Jim Carrey is a favorite, just don’t care for the really weird movies he’s done.

We also watched Courageous. It was a lot better than I expected! Some Christian movies, the acting really sucks, sorry but it’s true. I thought the actors were so much better and the message was awesome. My son wants to watch it again, which surprised me. He cried and cried after we watched it. He wasn’t really clear why, I think he’s holding out on me.

Always trusting in Him!

My first ORT (old ratty thread) jar of the year (TUSAL). Not much in there yet, but I didn’t start a new jar until after the Bent Creek Snappers I posted about in the last post. I started stitching for a friend… now that I have finished a scarf for my daughter, I can continue working on it. This one is a challenge for me, because I want to change up the colors different from the chart, and I am so not creative with that. Hopefully it goes well.

Today I watched five movies. For reals. I have been in such a funk. I also needed a rest from “stuff”, after getting the kids off to school. I finished Anabelle’s scarf while watching at least.

#1- The Ultimate Gift. GREAT movie, loved it, highly recommend it. A good family movie, funny, emotional, but overall, a feel-good movie!

#2- Reign Over Me. Adam Sandler is Charlie, a September 11 widower who experiences severe post traumatic stress disorder. I loved it. It’s emotional. It made me cry. Rated R for language. Not one to watch with kids around.

#3- Adam. It was good, but I liked the first two movies better. About a young man with Asperger’s Syndrome. It’s an indy romantic drama.

Then I turned on Netflix to watch:

#4- Griffin & Phoenix. Good movie, romantic drama. I love Dermot Mulroney. This one needs some tissues too. About a man with terminal cancer.

#5- The Accidental Husband. I enjoyed it and definitely no tissues needed for this one. It was a typical romantic comedy that would never happen in the real world.

So if you’re bored and want to watch some movies, there ya go. I just gave you five different ideas.

Finished this scarf today. My friend came over and helped me remember how to crochet. Seems I had forgotten how in the year or two that I haven’t done it. I am now making one for Sidekick, she chose a traditional baby colored yarn from my ancient stash of really cheap yarn, ya know, the rough stuff. I don’t know what else to do with all my old yarn, so I’ll just make scarves out of it. We always need them around here anyway.

I also finished these three Bent Creek Snappervilles that I bought the patterns for a few months ago. I plan to frame them in TS frames and hang them up. We have plenty of wall space to cover up.

Picnik is ending in April, so I took advantage of free premium to play with the stickers on today’s pics. I think they are cute. I wonder if them closing means I will need to doctor my pics with my blog name *before* uploading to Picasa. I sometimes do in PSP7 (yes I still have that version. LOL. Probably only my friends from the old ‘country graphics community’ will know what I’m talking about.) Anyway, back to the pics…

Nutmeg today. I need to find a place to take her for grooming. We give her baths, but she also needs nails clipped now and then. She is too squirmy for my comfort to do them. She also has black nails, I am SO not comfortable with that either. I’d rather someone else with better experience clip them!

Today I also sprayed out the computer. This fellow and I have been together a long time. He’s slow, and I’m too fast, but we still manage to get along okay.

Are you thinking spring? Cuz I am! I still love winter, but for some reason this season I just wish it was spring already. I want to see flowers blooming and grass growing.

To those who I owe emails to, I haven’t forgotten. Give me some time.

Thank you for visiting, and I hope you have an awesome weekend! TGIF!

I took an old unscented candle and covered it with misc. wax that I melted in a TS crock pot, and then mixed in coffee grounds. AKA me making a mess in the kitchen. Here it is almost all covered. It was fun and I like how the candle turned out!

I did the same to one of my tea lights to stick in the candle.

A few days ago we tried making korker ribbon for my daughter. These turned out great! Wish the pic was better. I used ribbon from the dollar section at Target from last Spring.

These came in the mail from Kim at Valley Primitives Gift Shoppe! I won her first giveaway. Aren’t they wonderful! The candle smells amazing, the scent is Apple Bourbon. Thank you so much Kim!

Stacy at Stacy Kay Creations sent me this sweet snowman Christmas card and matching ornament! She makes such charming cards! Thank you Stacy!

***

Today I started taking down some of our Christmas things. I didn’t take any pics to share before Christmas, so I thought I’d snap a few real quick, ya know, cuz I am so last minute and all.

Not much to see, but here’s most of the cards we received.

A rare LadyMoon photo this afternoon.

As I was heading out to the back deck to take down lights and tidy up the mess from the wind we recently had, I found a wee box delivered by UPS from my new dentist. Inside was a coffee travel mug, some gum and a business magnet. It was such a surprise, I have never gotten a gift from a dentist office before! How fancy! I needed a new travel mug too!

Thank you for visiting my blog! I hope you have a blessed 2012, filled with hope and JOY!
